Migrating applications to the cloud has never been more important for federal agencies than it is right now. While mandates like DCOI, which is part of the Cloud Smart strategy, have typically been the driver for agencies to get out of the data center business, the COVID-19 pandemic has provided even greater impetus for agencies to migrate to the cloud.
The pandemic has illustrated the importance of building an infrastructure that is agile and supports mission-critical operations at all times, no matter what. In our first ever video podcast, Government Technology Insider podcast host, Matt Langan, was joined by John Ezzell, EVP and Co-founder of BIAS; and Mark Saltzman, Senior Director of Database Services at BIAS. Ezzell and Saltzman, who have years of experience in helping agency customers migrate to the cloud, were keen to share valuable lessons they’ve learned.
When migrating large volumes of data to the cloud, Ezzell and Saltzman shared that security, scalability, and FedRAMP-certification are three of the most important features agency IT leaders should look for when planning to migrate to the cloud. “A powerful cloud solution that is capable of managing the large volumes of data that agencies require to deliver on the mission today,” shared Ezzell. “Migrating to the cloud enables agencies to streamline and modernize services and back-office operations, improve employee effectiveness, and ultimately create new levels of engagement to support the mission.”
