Federal agencies that deliver healthcare, including the Defense Health Agency and the Department of Veterans Affairs, are in the process of overhauling their core IT systems to deliver care and services more efficiently to patients and providers. In a new video from Federal News Network, Monica Rosser, Executive Managing Director for Federal Health at Maximus shares how aligning IT with the mission will help deliver success.

For Rosser, modernization with a purpose means “aligning every investment that we’re making now, be it technology, infrastructure, or workforce management, with the mission of improving health outcomes for our fellow citizens.” Rosser recommends that federal health agencies start their IT modernization journey by visualizing data as a strategic asset and unlocking the insights of the petabytes of data that federal healthcare agencies have stored to drive better healthcare outcomes. Once that data is unlocked, agency IT leaders need to focus on integration. Successful integration and collaboration between systems and departments is a success multiplier as data flows quickly and seamlessly and can be used to solve complex problems or provide new perspectives on patient care.

Then, of course there’s AI; perhaps the most revolutionary technology of our times, especially in healthcare where AI has some of the most mature use cases and applications. Rosser sees even more opportunities for federal health agencies to leverage AI than just clinical applications. The Department of Veterans Affair’s recent decision to use AI to improve the response time for benefits processing is just one example of how vital technology is to mission success.

This summary just skims the surface of Rosser’s insights into how aligning IT with mission will enable healthcare focused agencies to deliver better healthcare, health outcomes, and administrative processes to all stakeholders. We have a library of Rosser’s inspiring thought leadership to share as well as the full video of her latest insights for you to watch below.
