5G enables the efficient delivery of data when it comes to law enforcement and public safety solutions. With innovative technologies, such as body cams and mobile communications, public safety members can have faster and more effective emergency response.

From body cams to mobile devices, there are a wide range of solutions that keep public safety professionals safe and enable them to protect their communities. In addition, 5G enables better public safety, and it all starts with data communications as the foundation for effective and efficient response.

The partnership between Verizon and Axon has provided the public safety community with many innovative solutions, where efficient data delivery drives actionable intelligence. Both companies are now focused on developing the next generation of law enforcement and safety solutions that will drive data further to the edge for faster and more effective responses.

These were the key themes from a recent Government Technology Insider podcast with Will Egner, Senior Director of Wireless Strategy at Axon; and John Harris, Executive Director – Federal Civilian at Verizon Business, who discuss how 5G-enabled solutions can enable better public safety outcomes.

“We are excited about the 5G aspect in the efficiency of data transmission,” said Egner. “Our video evidence with our field officers can generate up to 20 to 30 gigabytes of data per month. With the new and improved efficiency of which Verizon network transmits data, we are able to accelerate evidence information to the cloud, process it, and automatically write reports. This is enabled by this new technology, and this dramatically reduces the workload for public safety agencies.”
