Agencies that make up the Health and Human Services (HHS) sector of state and local government serve some of our most at-risk citizens. The COVID-19 pandemic increased the number of individuals served by these agencies – further straining the resources available to help them. As such, it has never been more important to provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing these agencies.
Providing a hybrid modern government platform – rooted in on-premise and cloud infrastructure and solutions is the strategic direction that HHS agencies need to follow. Data is always at the core of any HHS solution, and can be the key that unlocks effective human services delivery methods, now and into the future.
These were the key themes of part one of the American Rescue Plan Act* video podcast series, hosted on Government Technology Insider, where Bob Nevins, Director, State and Local Government Strategy at Oracle Government and Education, discussed this topic further.
“In HHS, data can mean the difference between life and death, and this is an enormous responsibility,” said Nevins. “In addition, HHS agencies have very complex programs, and they are sensitive about the data they have in their possession. Oracle offers a cloud-at-customer solution that enables them to get the benefit of the cloud, while still keeping the data behind their firewalls. The hybrid cloud also supports many low-touch citizen engagement tools like chatbots, which have become very prevalent in HHS.”
