When it comes to IT modernization and the Department of Defense (DoD), past approaches involved multiple contracts that created a wide-range of burdens and challenges for department leaders and contract officers. Ultimately, this has led to the use of disparate contracts and multiple contracting vehicles that make it more challenging to drive digital transformation and deliver on the mission. On its path to transformation, the DoD is turning to the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contracting vehicle aims to ensure they are able to address their IT needs in a unified manner across the enterprise, and are able to procure the most cutting-edge solutions.
These were the key insights in the first part of this Government Technology Insider Department of Defense Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) podcast series about the Path to Transformation, where David Rouse, Director, Department of Defense Sales with Verizon, explores the benefits that EIS will bring to the DoD and some possible use cases that could have a big impact on mission readiness.
“Part of the challenge is around change management, as well as funding the transformation journey for the DoD,” said Rouse. “However, with EIS, we are seeing more of an enterprise-approach that encompasses a wide range of capabilities for transforming operations. It’s also possible to tailor specific task orders to an agency’s mission, and present more flexibility to meet the overarching objectives.”
