Big data is big business and federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health are benefiting from implementing data-drive solutions to achieve program results. To learn more about what’s happening right now at NIH, we sat down with Mr. Jay McCargo, President and CEO of ARServices. He confirmed that government agencies have clearly entered the era of big data, yet pointed out there are four challenges. Sneak peek: one of them is funding.
To hear about the four challenges, listen to the podcast below.
We spent most of our conversation focusing on the victories, not the challenges. Mr. McCargo told us the story of implementing a big data solution at NIH and the National Cancer Institute, where his team from ARServices has been engaged since 2010. “We assist in the clinical trials, data abstraction and data analysis of cancer protocol clinical trials,” he explained.
Although the technical aspects of this effort may seem dry to some, the impact they deliver not only to NIH, but to the cancer research community and the public, is inspiring.
