Effectively allocate resources, use data and analytics to make informed decisions, and foster robust security – these are goals for many public sector organizations, but it can be tricky to accomplish. With limited funding, dispersed environments, and overburdened IT staff, agencies must look to solutions that secure, automate, and simplify the IT burden.

Recently, we spoke with Shane Hallen, Strategic Sales Manager, Service Providers Cisco Cloud Networking Group, Meraki, to discuss how agencies have implemented Cisco Meraki to become resource-friendly, offer enhanced security, and provide their communities with better outcomes. Hallen explained that it doesn’t matter if an agency is experiencing rapid growth, remote work, or new requirements, finding a technology that can handle it is key.

This idea was echoed by Fred Ferares, Sales Director, Department of Defense at Verizon, in a recent panel focused on IT modernization. Ferares explained that agencies have accelerated IT modernization during the pandemic, and this has resulted in a variety of devices in dispersed locations – making management a difficult task.

“It simplifies IT deployments with zero-touch provisioning and greatly accelerates deployments of any size even for thousands of devices across thousands of locations,” Ferares shared. “With secure connectivity for remote users, high performing wireless access points, and complete visibility and control, Meraki removes the need for onsite IT staff and greatly reduces cost.”

Many agencies are far into 2021 planning and implementing solutions that reduce IT burden are a good investment. Many agencies are juggling a variety of tasks – from infrastructure to telecommunications services and on – teams are in need a solution that can be deployed and managed with ease, but that also fits within limited budgets.

As agencies look to streamline their IT operations, they should find a partner with proven, successful use cases. “IT is becoming more and more complex; agencies need to look for a platform that is natively built to be cloud-managed and leverage this technology to embrace security and automation,” concluded Hallen.
