As editors of Federal Technology Insider, we often look to expert sources for trends and predictions that impact the federal IT buying community. Most recently, we sat down with CP Morey, senior director of products at Sourcefire and asked him what he thought will impact the security industry in 2013.  Here is what he said:

Sourcefire CP Morey Corp Headshot
“This year will bring continued innovation in evasion techniques as malware developers invest in technologies to bypass the latest security controls. For instance ’VM aware‘ malware can be difficult to detect with sandboxing technology—a technology that saw significant up-take in 2012. The ’now or never‘ approach characteristic of sandboxing means that if malware isn’t detected the first time around, it never will be. The security community must continue to work toward overcoming weaknesses introduced by malware innovation. Technologies like retrospective analysis which continue to scrutinize files even after the initial scan show promise.”
